GLOBAL MARKETS-A strong year for stocks, but no joy for the dollar U.S. stock markets opened lower on Friday, trimming their strong gains for the year. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 31.83 points, or 0.13 percent, to 24,805.68, the S&P 500 lost 2.47 points, or 0.09 percent, to 2,685.07 and the Nasdaq Composite dropped 17.75 points, or 0.26 percent, to 6,932.41.
